Oil and Coal Treatment Microwave Systems

Ferrite Microwave Technologies microwave processing systems are utilized by energy companies to aid with oil and coal treatment. Typically, the systems for this marketplace are large commercial dryers. FMT specializes in the configuration of modular systems for microwave oil and coal treatment, or other forms of energy conversion or reclamation efforts.

Coal Treatment

Microwave coal treatment with systems is more cost effective for certain clients in energy markets where electricity is relatively cheap. It can also be configured to be more modular than other drying systems. This allows the flexibility to move production to another location at lower costs than incurred for traditional treatment equipment.

Patented Microwave Technology

Uniquely, our partners at IMS hold a patent for microwave drying of coal. Their patented technology has succesfully reduced the moisture content of coal by efficiently heating it with microwaves. This method allows the fine grade coal to be conveyed continuously through a microwave-energized heating chamber for drying. The microwave system developed by IMS allowed for the coal to not combust or oxidize, retaining its coking qualities.

Oil Reclamation

You can crack an oil molecule with a microwave. Thereby, you can replace conventional refinement processes with microwave systems. In doing so, you can avoid the necessity of using a cracking tower. In turn, it will also decrease your facility footprint. Over the years, we’ve seen several developments with oil treatment using microwave energy.

Microwave Techniques: FMT & IMS

The product lines from Ferrite Microwave Technologies (FMT) and Industrial Microwave Systems (IMS) came together in July 2021. The combined group now manufactures the legacy product lines from Mega Industries (MEGA), FMT, IMS, Micro Communcations (MCi), and FXR loads. It has two primary business division: systems and components. The systems divisions merged the brands, IP and products from IMS and Ferrite now allows customers a one stop source for lab-scale and commercial-scale microwave systems. While most of IMS products are single-mode, most from Ferrite are multi-mode. The group capabilities include:
