Biosolids, Biomass, & Biowaste Microwave Systems

Ferrite Microwave Technologies (FMT) microwave systems are utilized for conversion and treatment of biosolids, biomass, & biowaste materials. Municipalities use our technology for waste treatment and disposal efforts. Other applications include sludge drying and processing. We’ve also built systems that power plasma incinerators for biowaste disposal.

Microwave Treatment of Biosolids

There is momentum in the biosolid fuel industry for converting grasses and other natural waste into wood chips or pellets for burning as fuel. Conventional manufacturing involes a long fire-heated barrel for compression. However, microwave heating provides an alternative.

Municipal Sludge Treatment Microwave Systems Biomass

Municipal Sludge & Biomass Treatment

Municipalities must remain EPA 504 regulatory compliant in waste treatment. However, EPA 504 regulatory compliance does nothing to remove the organic volatiles. Thermal intervention with microwaves makes the process cleaner. Microwave treatment not only satisfies EPA 504, it also makes it safer by removing the bacteria and pathogens that may otherwise eventually make it back into the food we grow.

Biowaste Microwave Systems

Microwave Systems for Biowaste

Another application for microwave systems is hospital biowaste disposal and treatment. Ferrite Microwave Technologies has built systems that power plasma incinerators for biowaste disposal.

IMS Biosolids Biomass Biowaste

Other Biomaterials

Our partners at IMS hold several patents for work with thermal treatment of biomaterials. IMS cylindrical heating technology can produce new products that conventional heaters cannot.

Case Studies:

A New York based company is using an IMS heater for the Microwave Assisted Extraction (MAE) of plant protein cells to maximize yield and product quality of its biopharmaceutical products.

An Alabama based organization also uses MAE with ionic liquids to maximize the extraction of biochemicals from crustacean waste products.

As the pharmaceutical industry changes from batch production to continuous, IMS CHS technology is expected to play an increasing role in the rapid sterilization of high-value, heat sensitive intravenous and other fluids.
