Water Cooled Waveguide Loads

Ferrite Microwave Technologies (FMT) water cooled waveguide loads provide exceptional power handling capabilities and reliable performance. Typically, high power water loads employ in RF or microwave settings where using a dry load may not suffice. Cooling is achieved by use of internal liquid flow. It is an extremely efficient method of dissipating the heat generated by microwave energy. All materials in direct contact with the liquid cooling are designed for compatibility.

Discuss Your Requirements

Water Cooled Loads: FMT Designs

FMT’s water cooled waveguide load designs offer reliability and mechanical strength as the primary considerations in the manufacturing process. The peak power capability of one of our devices will typically be the same as the connecting waveguide. Water cooling is applicable to the external surface of these loads, which greatly increases the average power handling capability. We construct all load models utilizing an ultra-high temperature refractory ceramic as the microwave absorber. The absorber is then encapsulated with an intimately-fitted and welded aluminum housing. This design ensures maximum heat transfer at the rated power levels. All load designs meet the requirements of MIL-D-3954.

Capabilities

Ferrite Microwave Technologies capabilities with both water-cooled dry loads and water loads includes designs from WR28 to WR2300. In coaxial configurations, water loads are available from SMA to 9.1875 inches. Depending upon the power level, different materials help to absorb the microwave power. This includes: water, ethylene, propylene glycol mixture, or water / glycol absorption. FMT units are available with most common flanges, and are typically mountable in most positions. We offer custom flanges and mounting is available upon specialized request.
