Junction circulators are typically 3-Port devices with lower power handling capabilities than that of a four port circulator. In addition, these units tend to be more sensitive to temperature variations than the four port units as well. The benefits of a junction style circulator include a smaller overall footprint, and a lower overall cost.

Overview

The common applications for junction-type circulators are military, medical, and commercial applications. Typically, in these settings, the applications require a size kept to the minimum. Although these are the common applications, FMT considers 3-port junction circulator development in most reasonable settings.
For use as an isolator, the best approach is to have the circulator and load tuned together as an assembly.
