The microwave systems manufactured by Ferrite Microwave Technologies (FMT) reach clients and end-users in several markets and applications. The utilization of microwave energy within these markets and applications is centered around process control, flexibility, increased throughput, and product enhancement. These markets have enjoyed advances in efficiency and process time enabled by the introduction of microwave systems. Our advanced generator, applicator and feed technologies have lit the path for the entire industry. The current markets and applications we serve include: Food Processing, Industrial Drying, Chemicals & Fluids Heating, Building & Materials Handling, Government, Energy, and Industrial Heating.
Food Processing
In food processing markets and applications, our microwave systems are used to dry, boost-heat, temper, pasteurize, sterilize, and fully cook a range of several different food items. All Ferrite Microwave Technologies systems are FSMA and FDA compliant, and constructed of food-grade materials.
Tempering
Tempering is not only a time saver, but its benefits include higher protein yields, less mess, and more energy efficiency. Replacing conventional processes (like tempering rooms), FMT systems treat products such as beef, pork, poultry, fish, and other seafood products that need a raise in temperature.
Heating & Drying
Food products like spices, herbs, snacks, seeds, pulses, grains, and other bulk products often need to be finish dried once they are processed. Drying systems provide the flexibility to adjust throughput without costly heating and cooling cycles necessary for conventional drying.
Cooking
The majority of microwave systems used for cooking markets and applications involve pre-cooked bacon. That’s because the majority of pre-cooked bacon in the world is processed with systems like our MIP11. FMT’s lines are the preferred choice of some of the largest bacon producers in the world.
Materials Processing
Ferrite Microwave Technologies systems are utilized extensively in materials procesing. For certain markets and applications, our systems can assist in processes ranging from bonding, curing, reacting, and cracking – to simple heating and drying. Successful materials processed with our systems include: foam, wood, textiles, fabrics, non-wovens, agricultural products, carpets, paper, rubber products, insulation materials, and beyond.
Textiles
The majority of textiles markets and applications benefit from the excellent color drying and adhesive setting properties of microwave systems. Also, as a process that involves drying as well, microwave treatment has an added benefit.
Foam
Foam is one of the natural candidates for microwave treatment. The manufacturing process involves extensive drying and the homogenous consistency and microwave transparency makes drying with microwaves very efficient.
Fabrics
Microwave drying systems can treat fabrics that range from yarns and ropes, to towels and carpets. Typically, our systems are best suited for fabrics that are dyed, printed, coated, wet-laid, laminated, hydroengtangled, or chemically bonded.
Industrial Markets & Applications
Microwave systems provide unique solutions for clients in industrial markets and applications. We’ve developed system solutions for industrial processors of fossil fuels, biomass, oil, coal, sludge, pulp, and paper.
Oil
FMT systems are utilized by energy companies to aid with oil reclamation efforts. Microwaves are able to crack oil molecules. We’ve seen facilities decrease their footprint and change their refinement process by changing from cracking towers to microwave systems.
Biomaterials
Several different biomaterials benefit from the application of microwave power. Whether you’re using bio-solids to convert natural waste into byproducts for fuel, or looking at new ways to dispose of bio-waste – the team at FMT helps clients utilize microwave systems as a solution.
Coal
Microwave coal drying in industrial markets and applications is comparatively more cost-effective than traditional treatment equipment. We’ve developed modular systems that allow for flexibility, adaptability and transferability between production locations.
Fluids, Liquids & Chemicals
Ferrite Microwave Technologies recently expanded their capabilities with microwave systems for markets and applications involving fluids, liquids, and chemicals. Through our 2021 merger with IMS, we now have 2450MHz and 915MHz processing systems for products ranging from chemical solutions to pumpable foods. Microwave heating technology assists in processing food products such as dairy-based beverages, sauces, and soups. It also assists in the processing of resins, biochemicals, ionic fluids, biowastes, and beyond.
